In the event that it is determined that the patient has a herniated disc, it often depends on the severity of the disc injury. If the disc is sequestrated(no longer contained within the outer fibers of the disc) and has become a freely movable fragment, then our help with this issue may be limited. If on the other hand the disc problem is a protrusion or a bulge, then we often will use gentle spinal manipulation, spinal decompression, and/or laser therapy to treat the patient. We also will provide specific home care recommendations on posture, anti-inflammatory protocols, nutritional considerations and work modifications to assist the patient recover from their injuries sooner.
