Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Michael and Michele Dornbusch are licensed Chiropractors serving the Washougal community. Drs. Michael and Michele have enjoyed practicing in Washougal since early 2009 and have quickly become active members of the community. As Chiropractors with more than 18 years experience, they are committed to promoting optimal health and well being of patients. Dr. Mike has recently implemented his highly successful Wellness Coaching Program where he teaches his patient’s specific techniques to minimize the many lifestyle stresses that can degrade our health.

He is currently working towards his fellowship in Anti Aging and Functional Medicine from George Washington University and is expected to be completed by May, 2019. Dr. Mike also recently completed his certification in Whiplash Traumatology through the prestigious San Diego Spine Research Institute to help patients insure they get the best care possible with the motor vehicle collision injuries. Dr. Mike is also a certified TMJD doctor and can assist you in any jaw complaints that you may have.

Dr. Mike uses a “whole person approach”. This approach to wellness means looking for underlying causes of any disturbance or disruption (which may or may not be causing symptoms at the time) and make whatever interventions and lifestyle adjustments that would optimize the conditions for normal function. Using this unique approach, Dr. Mike is able to help you to accelerate and/or maintain your journey to optimal health.

Dr. Mike firmly believes in practicing what he preaches, thus he leads a very active lifestyle and has a strong passion for mountain biking and cycling, as well as training and competing in triathlons, half marathons, hockey and lacrosse. When he’s not at the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife Michele and two sons, Owen and Austin.

Dr. Michele is in the office part time and is currently working toward her Diplomate in Functional Nutrition and is leading our lab testing for patients who wish to get to the root of their health conditions. We currently offer Serum(blood), saliva, urine, hair, and stool testing.

Dr. RujardDr. Rujard Thurmer (Dr. Ruj) hails from a small town in Minnesota where there is only one stoplight in the entire county. He went to undergrad at the University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) where he was a member of the Track and Field team and eventually earned a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology. During his 3rd year at Morris, he blew his back out squatting. Little did he know, the events on that fateful day would eventually get him started on his journey to becoming a chiropractor.

Medical doctors told him that he would have to quit track and that he may never sprint at a competitive level ever again. He did not like that answer, so he eventually found a chiropractor who helped rehab him back to competition shape through adjustments and therapeutic exercises. At his first track meet back after the injury, he ran a personal record in the 100 meter dash. After graduating from UMM, he started his chiropractic education at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN.

After spending a year there, he came to the conclusion that he no longer wanted to continue his journey at that school. He went on to the University of Western States in Portland, OR where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human biology and eventually his Doctorate in Chiropractic in late 2022. When it comes to Chiropractic care, Dr. Ruj believes that there isn’t necessarily a one size fits all treatment plan for everybody, so he tries to tailor treatment to the specific needs of the patient.

Some of Dr. Ruj’s interests and hobbies include working out, hunting, aviation, day trading, and hiking/camping with his wife (Leah) and two dogs (Hazel & Cannon).
